Taxi

Taxis licensed by Genoa City Council are white and bear the sign “TAXI” on their roofs. The symbol of Genoa City Council is visible on the vehicle’s front doors and the license number is shown inside the car on the back left door.

ATTENTION: Unauthorized persons could drive any other vehicle waiting at the airport exit and fare could be higher.

Tourist Card

You can easily get around Genoa and visit its fantastic attractions by bus, by subway (“Metropolitana”), by taxi and on foot. If you plan to stay for 3 days or more, we suggest you buy “Genova City PASS” tourist card.

Bus and subway

The city’s public transport service is run by AMT and allows visitors to get around easily thanks to its extensive network connecting the entire city: this complete, integrated system includes buses, an underground, funiculars, lifts, a boat, cogwheel, and narrow-gauge railways.

  • Over 140 bus lines winding through the city’s streets along the coastline from West to East and inland.
  • 1 underground line linking the area of Rivarolo, in the Polcevera Valley, to the city centre, with seven stations that come out onto Genoa’s tourist sites.
  • 2 funiculars (Sant’Anna and Zecca-Righi) connect the centre to Genoa’s high grounds.

MOBILE APPLICATION

  • “AMT Genova” is the official mobile application of the city’s public transportation network, with all the information of the AMT lines and the possibility to purchase different types of tickets. Available for free download from the App Store or Google Play.

TICKETS

  • € 2.00 valid 110 minutes from validation throughout the entire urban and provincial network (bus, subway, funiculars, elevators). Not valid for Navebus, Volabus and Genova – Casella railway.
  • € 2.20 integrated ticket AMT / Trenitalia for use on the entire urban and provincial network and on the urban railway network.

TOURIST TICKETS

  • MetDaily (€ 10.00) valid for 24 hours from validation, allows you to travel on the entire urban and provincial network (bus, subway, funiculars, lifts, regional train), Navebus, Volabus, Genova Casella railway and Linea 782 Santa Margherita-Portofino
  • Children up to 1,15 meters tall travel free.

HOW TO BUY

Public transport tickets are sold at AMT ticket offices; they can also be purchased at newsstands, tobacconists and other shops and bars.

Tourist tickets are also sold at the Tourist Information Offices (IAT).
